Being a smart home enthusiast, I expected a tricky installation. However, everything worked on the first attempt, as described in the YouTube video; it took me 1 minute. The stock power cord is quite long. SlumberTek is very sensitive even under a thick mattress (~30cm). There are a few cranks and meters in HA for fine-tuning. Overall, I noticed a lot of attention to device engineering and software. Now my family sleeps siestas without disturbances! Gracias.
got this a week ago and it's already become my favourite sensor.
So many situations can be fixed by reliable bed presence detection. I love it!
Setup was incredibly easy and it is absolutely reliable so far.
I love these devices. Both SlumberTek and TrampleTek integrated flawlessly with Home Assistant and were simple to add to my automations. Setup was quick, reliability has been solid, and they fit naturally into my daily routines. Exactly the kind of hardware you want when building a smart home.
I use this with Home Assistant for detecting when I’m in bed at night. When I get out it raises the accent lighting slightly to find your way and then reduces back down when back in bed. Incredibly reliable and instant. Just got a second one! And- the founder maintains a Discord channel and always jumps in if you had a question. Highly recommend!
The bed sensor is working great with Home Assistant. Great product!
Love the device for home assistant use.
I emailed Raymond about using this for a new and silly use case to check when my dog was drinking water from the bowl or when it needs to be refilled. He was very prompt and helpful with detailed information. I ordered the device and it was very easy to setup with ESPHome on home assistant and I now have automations that work for my use case. Really love what they're building and will keep an eye on future products.
everything arrived well packaged and it was easy to flash the firmware and connect to home assistant. i purchased two for both sides of the bed. after watching the videos from the documentation which was easy to follow i was able to fine tune my get up out of bed detection to be a bit quicker. my default everything is pretty good as it is i just wanted to fine tune a few things. I had no issues that were possible things of note that are covered in the documentation and troubleshooting sections. This product seems to be well made.
SlumberTek is the ideal “set it and forget it” solution for presence detection. I’ve integrated 3 mats into Home Assistant and these devices have been rock solid with regard to both accuracy and uptime reliability, all in a device that’s completely local and elegantly concealed. Installation was a breeze using the easy instructions. Customer support is also amazing. I almost never write reviews but I had to take a few minutes to support this American small business. Easy 5 stars!
I can’t say enough good things about ASC’s Slumbertek and Trampletek products. I started using them to improve the safety and security of my elderly mother & 94-year-old aunt, and the results have exceeded every expectation.
Both products integrate beautifully with Home Assistant, making setup and customization a breeze.
Slumbertek provides incredibly reliable monitoring — It’s been invaluable for ensuring my mom & aunt are resting safely and comfortably in their beds. And if they get out of bed at night, or get out of bed and don’t return for a while, we get notified immediately and can take action whether it’s just viewing the camera monitors, running over to their house (They live next door), or even calling 911.
Trampletek, works in a similar fashion, and adds an extra layer of security with its precise activity detection and quick alerts. For example if my mother (with dementia) wonders out of her room or by the front door, I know immediately.
What really stands out is how seamlessly everything works together with Home Assistant.
Notifications are instant, data is accurate, and the peace of mind it brings is priceless. With Slumbertek & Trampletek, I now have the added controls I need to help keep my mother & aunt safe 24x7. Both products are highly recommended!
The SlumberTek bed sensor is an amazing product! Setup was very straightforward and hassle free, just be sure to follow the instructions carefully instead of trying to wing it. I was able to get it up and running quickly and even set up an automation for our toddler: if he gets out of his bed, we instantly receive an alert through our home system letting us know he’s up. SlumberTek integrates seamlessly with Home Assistant, making this automation possible.
Since I placed a larger order, I received a personal email from Raymond King, the CEO. His communication was excellent and he even saved me some money in the process. I’ll definitely be ordering more products and I’m looking forward to his future releases.
I bought this mat to make some spooky fun for my trick or treaters this Halloween. Setup and integration into home assistant took less then 5 minutes. I covered it with another spooky mat to hide the sensor and recalibrated it. It works great, no false triggers and latency is low. Now when guest knock on the door it plays spooky music and lighting effects. I was so impressed with the product I reached out to customer service about questions so I could buy more mats! Customer service was extremely personal, helpful and friendly. It’s been a great overall experience with this product and there company so far. I highly recommend these mats
The SlumberTek is an amazing product! Raymond worked with me directly to configure my SlumberTek for my setup. The product works seamlessly with HomeAssistant and offers a wide range of customizability in order to configure it for your setup. I would highly recommend the SlumberTek to anyone who is looking for a solid bed sensor (or couch) and will certainly be purchasing from ASC in the future!
The device has been working well in the couple weeks I've had it; I use it to trigger a light to wake me up when I sleepwalk. It is much more functionally flexible and reliable than the alternative bed alarms I tried. I don’t think I’ve had any false negatives, false positives, or dropped connections, which is fantastic
Setup was a little bit rocky for me, the browser crashed after flashing and the home assistant ESPHome auto discovery didn’t work so I had to go through some of the device steps manually. This is likely because I have HA running in docker on a separate headless Linux server. Be sure to watch the setup video in full because it has additional troubleshooting tips at the end! It probably took me ~30min so I recommend setting some time aside if you have a complicated setup like me
Great company to deal with too, Raymond clearly cares deeply about his products!
We communicated several times with owner Raymond, and he was amazing. The mat works exactly as promised, and the customer service was unbelievable. We give this company 5 stars!
The SlumberTek mat is a great piece of technology. I was able to set it up in Home Assistant very quickly, and the process of calibrating it is very intuitive. It even has more advanced settings that you can adjust if you want to fine tune, but I was able to leave it mostly stock and it worked great. I also was able to use it on beds with several different types of support and it worked well on all of them. One bed has a solid base, which as expected worked great. The next had a box spring and no problems there. And lastly for my youngest daughter her mattress is directly on the carpeted ground, but it still was able to detect when she got in and out of bed. I've been able to use this to alert my wife and I when the kids are in and out of bed and potentially need help, it really is great.
Detection keep getting even after I get up bed. I have did calibration twice.
Sensing works if I stay at the bed for a short while, but after whole night sleep sensor keep staying detected even after everyone out of the bed.
I will keep trying to calibirate.
Sathish's review was really helpful, and since then we have made firmware improvements and released a troubleshooting video to help increase SlumberTek's accuracy when people get out of bed! Here is a link to the SlumberTek troubleshooting video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIQU2vCFwZY
I was previously using a Withing sleep mat to trigger nighttime automations in Home Assistant. But since the sensor was provided through the Withing api, it would periodically not work for days. I just replaced that with the slumbertek and everything worked like a charm! And much faster with the local connection. Exactly what I was looking for.
I've struggled to find a reliable solution for detecting if my wife and/or I am in bed. I tried mmwave sensors, diy pressure sensors, the TrampleTek mat, and finally this one. The SlumberTek works perfectly. I added it to HA without any issues and it's been detecting if someone is in bed really well. I have a 10" memory foam mattress on a box spring.
I've been lucky enough to be able to test this product for a few weeks now and after having no issues, I quickly ordered another for the other side of my bed. (I also own ASC's TrampleTek mat as well).
This sensor was extremely easy to set up and get integrated into Home Assistant and has been part of my daily routines/automations since I installed it. The device is large enough to easily lay under your mattress and the provided cables have ample length to properly hide the cord out of the way. The included cable also has a 90 degree connector to make tucking into the corner of your bedframe even easier, it's also made of a braided material, making them MUCH more flexible and easier to route under your bed and properly hide the wires An added bonus was the size of the USB adapter (think the size of the ones that come with iPhones), the small size allowed it be used in an open outlet in a surge protector I already had under my bed, without blocking any of the other outlets. The mention of using the shipping packaging under the sensor to help with uneven surfaces was another nice, thoughtful and sustainable touch.
I only use it with Home Assistant, so my experience comes from there, but the customization is easily accessible and very thorough. The calibration process is easily done by simply laying in your bed with the option turned on and after that, pretty much no other interaction is needed with it, truly a set it and forget it device, I've experienced no downtime, errors or false-positives since using the device.
The team behind the device is also very supportive and constantly making improvements based on user feedback, which means it can only get better.
I would highly recommend this if you've been looking for a bed sensor. I almost bit the bullet on a few other options I found on Amazon that would require some DIYing to get to work as easily as this sensor does, so I am glad I stumbled upon this.
Very sturdy and easy to vacuum, it does exactly what the product page says, The easiest pressure mat to install in home Assistant (previous knowledge of adding devices via esp home is an advantage, but not a must). The owner is a cool dude to troubleshoot problems with 🙂
Very cool device!! Had some issues setting it up, which were my fault! Raymond could not have been greater to patiently work with me and get it operating properly. Very pleased with the quality and service!
Worked right out of the box with set up being seriously less than 2 minutes. Could easily set this up for grandma or any other low tech person. Doesn’t need an app, sensitivity is just right (and adjustable), non-slip base, sturdy material, and a 10ft USB cable for lot of position flexibility. Even worked off of a battery pack. Definitely recommended.
I bought a second one to add to my home assistant set up. espHome took a whole 5 mins to get rolling. Works very reliably for presence sensing. Far outshines my flimsy DIY FSR set up in terms of reliable readings and fortitude. Looking forward to cooking up more more fancy automation with this dependable sensor.
We were looking for something that could easily turn hallway and bathroom lights off and on at night from the guest room to keep my mother-in-law safe when she visits. The TrampleTek Blue mat fit the bill and has been awesome so far! We set it right in front of the guest room door, she can wake up in the middle of the night and step on it, lights turn on and illuminate the path to the bathroom, she steps back on it upon returning to the room and the lights switch off! Super easy to use, as well as super easy set up! We feel much better when she visits now, knowing that she is safer when getting up at night. We will definitely be getting more – so many awesome use scenarios!
